This year’s Keynote Speaker is Ryuko Kubota!


Ryuko Kubota is a Professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education at University of British Columbia, Canada, where she teaches applied linguistics and language teacher education. Her research draws on critical approaches to language education, focusing on race, culture, language ideologies, and critical pedagogies. She is a co-editor of Race, culture, and identities in second language: Exploring critically engaged practice (Routledge 2009) and an author of articles in academic journals including Applied Linguistics, Critical Inquiry in Language Studies, Journal of Journal of Second Language Writing, Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development, Linguistics and Education, TESOL Quarterly, and World Englishes. She has (co-)edited special issues for academic journals and published many chapters in edited books.
