So, looking at my entry below, I started to realize exactly how accurate it was. I really do like to start things. But
I've got a real issue with finishing them. I'm a galvanizer. But I don't follow through very well...
I am
so excited that my co-worker fits in so well with my behavioral issues. She hates the seeking and loves the doing. This week,
she said, "I just want a flash card program that lets students see sight words, and after they have a chance to work
through them, they can hear them and see if they work."
So I went home to look.
I found a great program for
Macs that does exactly that, called iFlash, but that doesn't help with our PC-laden school. So then I tripped across flash card machine. It allowed my colleague to type in the first 100 sight words she wanted her students to know, then, using a digital recorder,
to record said sight words so students could listen to the words. Pretty cool stuff, especially for those of us who just don't
have enough time with our students because we're spread too thin. And, honestly, who isn't?
The most wonderful
thing about both of these programs is that they allow you to keep track of the ones you know, and the ones you're shaky
on. So, provided that our students are actually honest, it could tailor itself to their learning needs.
So, tally-ho,
my friends! And let me know what you'd like me to find! I'm good at that part. Just not the implementation so much...
I typealyzed myself today.
And if you have a blog, you can do it too.
Go to typealyzer.com and put in the
link to your blog. And thanks to the Cool Cat Teacher Blog (a very cool blog with very cool links) for putting me on to it. Here's what it says about me, and scary how right on
it is... Give it a shot!
The analysis indicates that the author of http://www.nnetesol.org/id24.html is of the type:
ESTP - The Doers
The active and playful type. They are especially attuned to people and things around them and often full of energy,
talking, joking and engaging in physical out-door activities.
The Doers are happiest with action-filled work
which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following
it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time.
