Let's chat!

Hello, everyone!

My name is Beth Evans and I am the webmaster and president in waiting for NNETESOL. Welcome to the new site. We hope that this new format will help you get better acquainted with others in your area who are facing the same issues. This is the place to talk, and we hope that you jump in.

I'm using a news feed on the main page, which I hope to change monthly to get new information to you. I hope that this will become a spot where we can share news and information, gather opinions and share ideas. If you will email me, I will post.

An organization is only as active and useful as its membership. I know that we have a lot of interested people out there, and we'd like to get your information heard.

For our upcoming conference in November, we'd like to try to start looking at issues more in-depth, making sure we are providing sessions that address the teaching range of our membership, from the itty-bitties to adults. The topic is fairly broad, focusing on culture and TESOL.

How can you help? Well, that all comes down to what you want to do. If you have lessons that are working in your classrooms, or you have issues that you think would make for a good round-table discussion, consider getting involved. Every time we have a conference, we hear clamoring for more TEACHERS to present. We'd like that to happen, and the board members are doing their best to bribe those they know, but we really need you.

I hope to do on doing a session just on cool things that are happening on the web (sort of a show and tell session), and I'm twisting arms of colleagues to do sessions on setting up a newcomer program and parental involvement. Another board member is doing her best to get a session going on WIDA standards and a discussion on issues in adult ed.

What can you offer to share? I'm eager to find out. The call for proposals has been up for some time, and with this new format, it may take me a few days to find out how to get it up again. But it will be here.

So come on and take the plunge. It's cool to be a presenter!!! Cool
